History of Swansea Environmental Forum

Set-up in 1985, SEF has initiated and co-ordinated many successful projects including:

  • Set up the Environment Centre in 1995; a unique focal point and resource base for environmental information, education and activity in the region.
  • Conferences and workshops on urban greening, countryside access and Agenda 21 issues.
  • A community recycling scheme, urban wildlife action group and an environmental network.
  • A directory of local projects that illustrate sustainability concepts.

In Spring 2004 the Forum became the lead partner for all aspects of the natural and built environment for Swansea's community plan. In this plan Sustainability is a cross-cutting theme and the Environment is one of the main themes.

In 2006 it produced Swansea's first Environment Strategy.
